Groundwater lowering

– A dry foundation for the construction

When a contractor or a client is to build in an area with a high water table – or needs room for a deep basement – it might be necessary to carry out groundwater lowering. Aarsleff carries out all types of work related to groundwater lowering:

  • filter wells
  • bleeding wells
  • monitoring wells
  • reinfiltration system
  • well points

Drilling and groundwater pumps
Aarsleff’s train of machines comprises a wide range of drilling rigs making us able to establish filter wells with diameters ranging from 150 to 400 millimetres. We cover the entire installation of groundwater pumps – complete with pipes and electrical installations. All systems can be connected to alarm monitoring systems and emergency generators.

Tests give good results
After the drilling work, the filter wells are cleaned and pump-tested. The effect of the pumping is measured by specially-developed software. This way, our specialists are able to dimension the system for groundwater lowering more precisely and at the same time, test the effect of it.

Avoiding settlement damage
To avoid settlement damage in connection with groundwater lowering in old, urban areas, we are able to reinfiltrate the pumped water under the adjoining buildings to ensure that the groundwater table remains within its natural fluctuation limits outside the working area.
