In October 2002, the first phase of the new Copenhagen Metro opened.
In connection with the Metro project Aarsleff and the subsidiary Petri & Haugsted as have been responsible for constructing forecourts and shaft areas for the first two phases of the Copenhagen Metro - a total of eight forecourts and 11 emergency shafts. The first phase stretches from the city centre to eastern and western Amager. The second phase runs west from the city centre to Frederiksberg. The two companies together have performed the paving works, while Aarsleff alone was responsible for installing air gratings, skylights, stairwells etc.
