The price of installing an electronic ticket system for public transport in Denmark is around DKK 2 billion.
Unisys, an international IT and consultancy company, is one of the tenderers for this contract. As subsupplier of the preinstallation works, Unisys entered into an exclusive agreement with a consortium, Banetek, created for the occasion of this contract. In addition to Aarsleff the consortium consists of Kemp & Lauritzen A/S and Petri & Haugsted as. Atkins Danmark A/S is consultants on the contract and responsible for the design.
Unisys cooperates with strong partners
In a press statement released by Unisys on 26. April 2004 Director Jens Hornemann of Unisys Public Sector says: ”Unisys chose strong, Danish partners for the purpose of ensuring a high quality from day one. It is important to maintain a strong reliability and this can only be achieved by cooperating with people who have a long experience in performing specific tasks and who are used to cooperate”.
Unisys emphasizes the experience the three companies have within traffic installations. ”As is commonly known, installation works carried out at train stations and track beds always involve some degree of inconvenience. We intend to mobilize a strong preinstallation team which is to ensure an efficient establishment of the entire infrastructure, involving as little inconvenience as possible to the daily public transport”, the press statement says.
