In March Aarsleff signed a contract on the driving of 22,000 prefabricated, reinforced concrete piles for construction of a complete, new oil treatment plant in Kazakhstan.

A total of six piling rigs and 25 employees are working on this big project, which started making serious progress in late August.

Aarsleff entered into the DKK65 million contract with Parson Flour Daniel, England, who is management contractor for client Tengizchevroil. The latter is a joint venture between the oil companies Chevron-Texaco and Exxon-Mobile as well as the state of Kazakhstan.

The new plant is constructed south of an existing plant and is to process the oil deposits that are collected from the Tengiz field on the Caspian Sea. The Tengiz field is one of the largest oil deposits in the world.

The total price of the new oil treatment plant is approx. USD4 billion.
