Since the spring of 2001, Aarsleff and NCC Danmark have been constructing a road in Tanzania in East Africa. The consortium has three years to extend and rehabilitate a 130km long main road between Chalinze and Melea in Tanzania.

The project is financed by DANIDA, focusing on three things in particular: Environment, employment of local labour and training of local residents.

The road rehabilitation work involves reusing materials from the existing road. On sections of the road the existing asphalt is milled and reused for the new asphalt surfacing just as the old stone bed is also reused.
