"This project has posed many interesting, special and also difficult challenges", says Project Manager Ole Krogh regarding the sewer rehabilitation project in India. Aarsleff recently handed over the DKK145 million World Bank project ahead of schedule to a satisfied client in Mumbai, India. The project is Aarsleff's biggest so far within trenchless pipe rehabilitation.
Since commencement of the project in the autum of 2001, Aarsleff has rehabilitated 8.4 km of big, deep-lying sewer pipes with the Channeline method. Channeline involves prefabricated glass-fibre elements being built into the host pipe. The high population density, traffic load and the high water table made traditional rehabilitation impossible.
"We have developed a good relationship with the client and we are very positive as regards extending the existing contract. Additional works would keep us busy out here for the rest of the year. At the same time we expect new renovation works to be put out to tender within the coming 6-12 months", says Project Manager Ole Krogh.
