In Mumbai, formerly Bombay, in India Aarsleff has renovated 8.4 km of very large and deep-lying sewer pipes.

The trenchless rehabilitation method segmental lining was chosen for this project.

The method is applicable to all types of gravity pipes provided they are big enough to hold the crew that will be executing the rehabilitation inside the pipe.

Aarsleff applies custom-built, glass-fibre reinforced polyester panels which are lowered into the pipe and installed in bond. During installation the waste water is bypassed to other sewer systems in the city.

The contract has a value of DKK145 million and is the biggest contract implemented by Aarsleff in Asia so far.
