In 1998 to 1999, Aarsleff participated in a major gas pipeline project for Statoil north of Stavanger in Norway. The contract value amounted to NOK995 million and the project comprised construction of 30 km of gas pipeline in connection with Europipe II and Åsgard Transport.
Europipe II supplies gas to Germany and Aarsleff was responsible for installation of a land-pipe from the natural gas treatment plant at Karstø to the offshore pipeline.
The other pipeline, Åsgard Transport, receives gas from the Åsgard gas field in the North Sea. Aarsleff installed the land-pipe to the gas treatment plant.
Aarsleff was also responsible for bringing ashore the Åsgard Transport pipeline. The 1 km long gas pipeline was installed in a tunnel below sea level.
In addition to the land-pipe, four sea crossings were executed. The sea crossings ranged in length from 735 to 1920 m and in depth from 14 to 84 m.
