In the spring of 2002, Per Aarsleff A/S was contracted by Energi E2 under a Design and Construct Contract to prefabricate and install 73 concrete foundations for the Nysted Offshore Wind Farm off the southernmost tip of Denmark. 72 foundations for 2.3 MW wind turbines and one foundation for a transformer substation.
The foundations were designed as concrete caissons positioned on the seabed and ballasted. Foundations levels varied from –7.5 metres to –12.5 metres. The weight of each foundation was approx. 1,300 tonnes before ballasting and 1,800 tonnes after ballasting.
Anemometer masts
In relation to the Danish scheme for offshore wind farms, Aarsleff has until now, apart from the 73 foundations at Nysted Offshore Wind Farm at Rødsand, undertaken all works for installation of anemometer masts on all planned locations in Denmark: Omø Stengrund, Rødsand, Gedser Rev, Horns Rev, Læsø and Middelgrunden.
