When in the 1970s the residential area Vapnagård in Elsinore, Denmark, was established, the sewer pipes were placed under the houses in order to minimise the digging depths. However, for many years now, the housing association that owns Vapnagård and the approx. 4,000 residents have had problems with the pipes below the buildings.
In cooperation with the consulting engineers Wissenberg in Copenhagen, Aarsleff prepared a proposal for renovation of the pipes in the area.
By means of cured-in-place pipe lining of the sewers below the residential area, Aarsleff solved problems concerning major or minor sewer defects, jams and rats to the great satisfaction of the housing association and the many residents.
