Installation work for Banedanmark’s signalling system

A 50/50 joint venture consisting of one of Europe’s largest railway enterprises, Strukton Rail A/S, and Aarsleff Rail A/S has been awarded a subcontract by Siemens A/S for the installation work in connection with the first phase of Banedanmark’s new signalling system. The signalling project is a total renewal of the complete system on the Danish Railroads. The project includes three phases with expected completion in 2020.

The activities consist of cable laying and installation of various equipment along the tracks at the electrified metropolitan railways of Copenhagen, covering 170 kilometres of double tracks and 85 stations.

The client does not want to publish the contract value which is in the range of several hundred million Danish kroner.

The activities will be completed during the next five to six years.

Currently, Aarsleff Rail A/S and Strukton Rail A/S are working on a DKK 90 million track renewal contract for Banedanmark between the Danish towns Bramminge and Tønder.

The order does not affect Aarsleff’s expectations for the financial year 2010/2011.
